Product Update - Tan Easy and Contest Colour - Tuesday, September 08, 2009

Please Note.

The NEW CONTEST COLOUR is a different colour to our old colour.

Please take notice of the differences.

  • It is a completely different looking colour.
  • It has a green tinge to the formula, so don’t be put off by this greenish look.
  • The colour will change when dried and will look different again when cured.

MIX CONTENTS WELL BEFORE EACH USE

This is important, because of colour separation, the product mixes very easily.

  • It is a stronger colour, so less is needed for a similar coverage
  • Do not apply too heavy, lighter coats are more beneficial and looks more natural.
  • It cures quicker (different to drying time), 6 hours as opposed to 8 hours

This allows more coats in a 24 hour period, less time is needed for tanning.

    * Only the colour has changed, everything else remains the same.

  • Contest Colour is still made the same way and has been proven to be popular over many years.
  • If you have fair (light) skin tones. It is advised to use a base coat first.
  • Tan Easy or Equinox Tanning Lotion will give you a great base tan.

Quick Tanning Technique - Tuesday, September 01, 2009

Quick Tanning Technique.

This advice is a guide only and may vary from person to person.

  1. Your show is on Saturday and you have pale skin.
  2. Thursday is your skin prep day (shaving, waxing, exfoliating etc.)
  3. On Thursday evening shower, dry well and apply a base coat (Equinox or Tan Easy) leave on overnight.
  4. Friday morning quick shower, no soap products, dry well and apply a second coat of base tan. Leave tan to develop at least 6-8 hours, no swimming or perspiring.

If you already have a great base tan you may start your tanning from now.

  1. Always, mix your Contest Colour well before use, this is important.
  2. Friday evening apply a coat of Contest Colour, your skin should be dry so you will use more Contest Colour on your first coat, you may also experience uneven coating and streaks, this is normal. Wait until dry approx. 30 minutes.
  3. Apply a second coat of Contest Colour, less will be used and it will dry more even. Allow to dry, approx 30minutes.
  4. Now buff your skin up with a soft cloth or old towel. Do it gently, the Contest Colour is still soft. It should develop a sheen to your skin.
  5. You have just removed the residue from the surface of your skin.
  6. Wear old clothes and leave until morning.
  7. Saturday morning you may apply another coat Of Contest Colour if you need it, or just apply a Final Coat Tan (Body Shimmer or Tan Master) before you leave for your show.

Final Coat Tans will apply easier when they are a body temperature so warm yourself and the Final Coat Tan up before use.

If you do not wish to use a Final Coat Tan, it is recommended to use HDFX Body Oil to give your tan a complete finish & help set it for competition. Apply just before competition, if you use too much oil just pat off excess with a dry towel.

Tan Master vs Body Shimmer - Friday, May 01, 2009

Tan Master V Body Shimmer

Body Shimmer was first developed over 10 years ago and is still going from strength to strength.  Tan Master is our newest product in our range and although similar to Body Shimmer, it is also very different as well.

Major Similarities:

  • Both are supplied in 90 gram plastic tubs.

*Which is considerably more then our major opposition’s sizing. Both products are designed to look better with a good base tan.

  • Both are based on lanolin oil.

*Lanolin will absorb into the skin & then give a great even glow as you warm up. It will also help moisturize your skin for after the show.It does not sit on top of your skin & wipe off with your hand movements.

  • Both are applied in the same way.

Remember to warm up the container to body temperature before applying. Tan Master & Body Shimmer will spread much more easily at body temp.

  • Both will give you a ready to go finish.

Tan Master being less glossy. If you do require extra oils, HDFX Body oil is recommended.

  • Both may be applied prior to leaving for the show venue.

*A quick touch up at the show may be all that is needed, which will save time.

  • Both products will wash off with soap & water.

*A quick shower & your skin will feel cleaned & moisturized.

  • Both products can be washed off painted surfaces & floors with a ‘Spray & Wipe’ type cleaning product, very easily.
  • Appreciated by promoters & cleaning staff.
  • Both are the same price.
  • Both are great value for money.

Major Differences:

Tan Master is more opaque then Body shimmer.  Body Shimmer is designed to be applied over a good base tan. This could be a natural dark tan or an artificial dark tan.

Tan Master is more suited for people who have trouble obtaining that really dark tan, because of their skin type. Because Tan Master has extra opacity, it will cover slight skin blemishes better then Body shimmer, but does have a flatter look. If you wish spray HDFX body oil can be applied, to give lift.

It is recommended that you obtain a good base tan before using Tan Master or Body shimmer.

Tan Master contains Bee’s Wax.

Because Tan Master also has extra opacity, this can inhibit its ability to spread evenly. Bee’s wax will enhance the spread-ability & also helps to hold your tan while perspiring.

Do not use to much, less is best. Try to layer when applying until you have the desired effect.

Tan Master is different colour to Body Shimmer.

Body Shimmer has a natural golden tan look about it with shimmer added to enhance this look under strong stage lighting.

Tan Master has a stronger, darker more red/brown look, with a lesser amount of shimmer added.

This means a thinner layer can be applied and still get a great coverage.

Conclusion:

Tan Master & Body Shimmer are designed to enhance the tan you already have. Not to be the only tan you have.

Some people will be able to use these products by themselves without problems.

They would have to already have a natural looking dark skin.

As a guide, the lighter your skin is naturally (white) the more base tans you should have before using Tan Master or Body Shimmer.

Use: Equinox, Tan Easy, Original Contest Colour or Acetone Free Contest Colour to obtain a great base tan.

Refer to Tan Man’s Tanning Plan for details.

Product update - Contest Colour and Tan Easy - Wednesday, April 01, 2009

Product Update - Contest Colour and Tan Easy

We have changed the bronzer (dye) formulation in these products.

One of the dyes has become increasingly more difficult to obtain over the last 12 months. So we have re-jigged the formula and are now using a more readily available product. We have wanted to change the look for some time. Finding the colour we liked was the hardest to do.

The Colour is approximately 15% stronger then previous, which means less coats may be applied to obtain the desired effect. Base tans may not be needed.

It is even more important, then before to shake the contents well.

Do not judge the finished colour by looking at a wet sample. The colour will dry different after a few minutes.

This is certainly more noticeable with the Contest Colour products.

Also we were able to quicken the curing time (different to drying time).

Now you can shower and re-apply in approx. 6 hours instead of the 8-10 hours recommended with our previous product.

It is still better to leave on as long as possible.  This means 3 coats maybe applied in 1 day. So tanning may only be required the day before a show.

Equinox, Body Shimmer & Tan Master.

We have had to change the fragrance used in these products as it is no longer available.

The fragrance now used is called PINA COLADA.
